1. Who we are

Hamster Reel: Product Slider ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") is provided by Onfocus Tech Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 11325900), with a registered office at Cheltenham Film Studios, Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham, England, GL51 6PN.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the Data Protection Register. Our registration number is ZA447038.

The app turns your existing product images into engaging AI-generated videos and displays them in a mobile-friendly slider on your Shopify storefront. No technical setup is required — videos are generated automatically for your products.

2. How we work with Shopify

Our app is built on the Shopify platform and uses Shopify's APIs to provide its services to merchants. When you install the app, Shopify grants us access to certain information from your store, as described in this policy. We only access and use that information to the extent necessary to operate the app and provide our services.

3. Information we collect

We collect information in three main ways:

(A) Information we access via Shopify APIs
(B) Information we collect directly from merchants
(C) Information we collect from merchants' customers and store visitors

3A. Information we access via Shopify APIs

To generate product videos and operate the slider, we access the following from your Shopify store:

Product and catalogue data

Product titles, descriptions, images, variants, and pricing
Collections and product tags

We access product images specifically to generate video content using our AI system. Images are processed automatically, and our team may occasionally review generated videos to ensure quality and compliance with our content guidelines.

3B. Information we collect directly from merchants

When you install or use the app, we may collect the following information about the store owner or account holder:

Name
Email address
Phone number
Physical address

This information is provided to us by Shopify as part of the installation process, and may also be used to contact you with operational communications such as onboarding guidance, feature updates, or support responses.

We also collect:

Configuration and usage data: Settings you configure in the app, which products are selected for video generation, and how you interact with the app's features.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and log data related to the operation and security of the app.
Support communications: Messages, support tickets, or other communications you send us.

3C. Information collected from your store visitors

When a visitor views your storefront with the Hamster Reel slider installed, we may collect the following device and activity data:

Geolocation (derived from IP address)
IP address
Browser type and version
Operating system

This data is collected to enable the slider to function correctly across devices and to support the analytics and tracking described in Section 5.

4. How we use the information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To provide and operate the app — generating product videos from your images, powering the storefront slider, and keeping the app synchronised with your store.
AI content generation and quality review — your product images are processed by our AI system to create video content. Our team may occasionally review generated content to ensure it meets quality standards and does not violate any content guidelines.
To provide support — responding to your support requests and sending operational communications about the app.
To maintain and improve the app — monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and developing new features.
For analytics — understanding how the app and app listing are used, as described in Section 5.
To meet legal and regulatory obligations — complying with applicable laws and regulations and enforcing our terms of service.

We do not sell personal information or share it with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

5. Analytics and tracking

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to track traffic and interactions on our Shopify App Store listing. When a merchant visits our listing and installs the app, the following events may be sent to our GA4 property:

Some of these events are sent via Google Analytics 4's Measurement Protocol (server-side) and may include parameters such as store identifier, store name, and store URL. You can learn more about Google Analytics privacy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Remarketing

We use Google Remarketing to show relevant advertising to merchants who have previously visited our app listing. This is managed via Google's advertising platform.

Facebook Pixel and Meta Conversions API

We use Facebook Pixel (Meta Pixel) on our app listing, combined with Meta's Conversions API for server-side attribution. The following events may be tracked:

6. How we share information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

Service providers — We share data with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the app and our business, including hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics platforms (Google, Meta), email providers, and customer support tools. These providers are only permitted to process data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
Shopify — Because our app operates on the Shopify platform, certain data may be synchronised with Shopify as necessary for the app to function.
Legal requirements — We may disclose information where required to comply with applicable law, to respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or others.
Business transfers — If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfil the purposes described in this policy, including:

Merchant and store data: Retained while the app is installed and for a reasonable period after uninstallation for backup, billing, and dispute resolution purposes.
Store visitor data: Retained in accordance with the data retention settings of the relevant analytics platform (Google, Meta).
Support communications: Retained for as long as reasonably necessary to manage your support history.

When data is no longer required, we will delete it or anonymise it.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR (where applicable), you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

10. International data transfers

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access or disclosure. These include encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), access controls, and regular security monitoring. However, no transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children's privacy

Our app is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have done so, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

13. Merchants' responsibilities

Merchants who install our app are responsible for ensuring that their own privacy policies and practices comply with applicable laws, including providing their customers with appropriate notices about any third-party apps installed on their store. Our app is a data processor acting on behalf of merchants with respect to customer data.

14. Uninstalling the app and data deletion

You can uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin. Upon uninstallation, we will stop collecting new data from your store via Shopify's APIs. Existing data will be retained for a reasonable period for backup and administrative purposes and then deleted or anonymised.

If you would like us to delete your data sooner, please contact us at support@hamsterreel.com with your shop's URL and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
